Lyft Exec Gyre Renwick Wins $10,000 for Charity in emids Annual CXO Challenge

NASHVILLE, March 14, 2018 /PRNewswire/ -- A top executive with Lyft Business proved last week during the 2018 HIMSS summit in Las Vegas that the best form of transportation is sometimes your own two feet. By logging more than 193,560 steps (93.6 miles) during emids' annual HIMSS CXO Challenge, Renwick made an early sprint to the lead among 18 healthcare executives and held the lead throughout the competition, taking home the win for Lyft and his charity of choice, Fast Forward, which invests in entrepreneurs who are using technology to accelerate social impact.

emids will donate $5,000 to Fast Forward on behalf of Lyft and the remaining $5,000 to the HIMSS general scholarship fund.

"What a rewarding way to put all the miles logged during healthcare's largest tech event to good use," said Gyre Renwick, vice president for Lyft Business. "We're excited to be able to make such a meaningful donation to a worthy cause."

Renwick was one of 18 executives from some of healthcare's most well-known brands who participated in the CXO Challenge, the third one that emids has sponsored in as many years during the annual HIMSS conference. Coming in second in the challenge with nearly 78 miles logged was Cleveland Clinic CIO Edward Marx, and third place with just over 76 miles was New York-Presbyterian Hospital CIO Daniel Barchi.

"We are thrilled to be able to give back, reward the dedication of the leading CXOs in the business, and to showcase how we can help make meaningful use of existing and emerging digital health technologies and wearables," said emids President Michael Hollis.

emids provided each participant in the CXO Challenge with Fitbits that the emids team programmed with individual participant information and connected through the Fitbit API to a custom-built dashboard that tracked each participant's progress. Results were broadcast real time on a live-feed leaderboard at the emids booth throughout the tradeshow.

Lyft participated in the CXO Challenge to raise money for a good cause, but also to help raise awareness of how it's bringing its consumer solutions to healthcare through its Lyft Concierge API. Learn more about how Lyft Concierge API is revolutionizing patient transportation.
