MobileHelp® Touch Combines Remote Patient Monitoring and Emergency Response in One Platform

LAS VEGAS, March 6, 2018 /PRNewswire/ -- MobileHelp® Healthcare, a leader in personal and enterprise healthcare technology solutions, today announced a new collaboration with Samsung Electronics America to introduce MobileHelp Touch – a new remote patient monitoring (RPM) solution with integrated emergency response capabilities.

MobileHelp® Touch Combines Remote Patient Monitoring and Emergency Response in One Platform

Built on the Samsung Tab A and supported by Samsung Knox defense-grade security, MobileHelp Touch blends the safety benefits of a traditional emergency response system with the added personal and professional healthcare benefits of RPM technology and video conferencing.

Designed to provide patients with a "step-down" solution, MobileHelp Touch gives healthcare providers the ability to provide patients with traditional RPM for their entire episode of care. Following that time period, patients have the opportunity to keep the tablet and peripheral equipment and continue monitoring their own vital signs – allowing healthcare providers to essentially step out of the patient care process – while giving patients the tools they need to engage in their own long-term care.

In initial pilot programs with healthcare providers, MobileHelp found that patients monitored under traditional telehealth structure are ideally suited for this blended type of solution. The basic clinical knowledge patients receive during a 30- to 60-day home health period while using MobileHelp Touch provides a natural transition to self-monitoring.

In one MobileHelp pilot with the VNA of Rockford, use of this solution demonstrated highly successful results: Patients monitoring their own vital signs reported a 47 percent increase in confidence level regarding their ability to manage chronic conditions. Participants also reported an 18 percent increase in physical activity and mobility.

"We know better management of patients with chronic conditions reduces readmissions for ACOs and results in better outcomes for patients," said Chris A. Otto, SVP of MobileHelp Healthcare. "MobileHelp Touch takes that to the next level by combining RPM and emergency response services in a single platform. Providing these benefits beyond the clinical oversight care period allows patients to self-monitor vital signs, with access to emergency help if needed."

The MobileHelp Touch system on Samsung Tab A gives both providers and patients a new suite of benefits, which include the following:

  • RPM Program Support
  • Remote Patient Monitoring
  • Virtual Video Visits
  • Medication reminders
  • Fall Button™/Activity tracking
  • Messaging
  • Educational resources

The Samsung tablet-based solution will be on display in the Samsung demo lounge (Casanova Ballroom, Room #606, Level 1 in the Sands Expo) during the HIMSS 2018 show.
