HIMSS Announces 2015 Chapter Leader of the Year Award Winner
The HIMSS16 Awards Gala will be held on Thursday, March 3, in Las Vegas, Nev.

CHICAGO Susan K. Newbold, PhD, RN-BC, FAAN, FHIMSS, Tennessee HIMSS chapter, is the recipient of the 2015 Chapter Leader of the Year Award.  This award is presented to one individual who, in the judgment of the HIMSS North America Board of Directors, has demonstrated significant leadership and has made extraordinary contributions to HIMSS chapters, the society, and a commitment to the health IT industry.

“HIMSS congratulates Susan Newbold on receiving the 2015 Chapter Leader of the Year Award. Our volunteers share their time and expertise with us to help improve healthcare delivery with the best use of IT, and we appreciate their ongoing efforts as leaders in our healthcare community,” said Stephanie Denvir, CAE, director, strategic relations, HIMSS North America.

Newbold is a healthcare informatics consultant in Franklin, Tenn., and former vice president, professional development, for the HIMSS Tennessee Chapter board. Newbold is the owner of the Nursing Informatics Boot Camp.

A HIMSS member since 1996, Newbold has been involved with the Maryland and National Capital Area chapters, in addition to her current Board position on the Tennessee chapter.              

Newbold will be honored at the HIMSS16 Awards Gala on, Thursday, March 3, from 6:30-9 p.m. at the Latour Ballroom in the Wynn Hotel during 2016 HIMSS Conference & Exhibition on Feb. 29-March 4 in Las Vegas, Nev., at the Venetian – Palazzo – Sands Expo Center. "Susan has used her leadership skills to help build a successful chapter,” said Russell B. Leftwich, MD, nominator. “She has used her experience as vendor, consultant, academic and hospital professional to build teams, support chapter goals and develop professionals in her role as the vice president of professional development. Susan has also worked to motivate members to seek advancement to Senior Member or FHIMSS status.  She even organized a competition with the Colorado Chapter to see who could get the most new FHIMSS members."
