HIMSS Announces 2015 Nursing Informatics Leadership Award Winner
The HIMSS16 Awards Gala will be held on Thursday, March 3, in Las Vegas, Nev.

CHICAGO (January 6, 2016) – Mary Beth Mitchell, RN, MSN, BC, CPHIMS, chief nursing informatics officer at Texas Health Resources, is the recipient of the 2015 HIMSS Nursing Informatics Leadership Award. This award is presented to one individual who, in the judgment of the HIMSS North America Board of Directors, has demonstrated significant leadership in the area of nursing informatics within the Society and the industry.

At Texas Health Resources, Mitchell oversees nursing adoption, utilization and optimization of their EHR. She also provides oversight for their HIMSS Analytics EMRAM Stage 7 initiative and the HIMSS Davies Award application. Mitchell has presented at state and national levels on nursing informatics topics, such as the power of EHRs, the Texas Health Ebola experience, and improving populations through actionable information. She has published chapters in informatics text books and articles in professional journals. In 2014, she was listed as one of the Top 10 Powerhouse Women in health IT, and in 2012, was a semi-finalist for the Innovator Award in Healthcare Informatics. She has influenced the field of nursing informatics at the local, regional and national levels.

Mitchell will be honored at the HIMSS16 Awards Gala on, Thursday, March 3, from 6:30-9 p.m. at the Latour Ballroom in the Wynn Hotel during 2016 HIMSS Conference & Exhibition on Feb. 29-March 4 in Las Vegas, Nev., at the Sands Expo & Convention Center.
