Returning Care to the Bedside: Hill-Rom Protects Patients by Anticipating Care
Hill-Rom and Welch Allyn to showcase strength of combined companies, benefits of connected clinical environments at HIMSS

CHICAGO, March 1, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- Hill-Rom Holdings, Inc. (NYSE: HRC), a leading global medical technology company, is showcasing at HIMSS a solution that collects information from Hill-Rom® beds, NaviCare® nurse call equipment, real-time locating systems and electronic medical records to help prevent falls, reduce hospital acquired infections, improve patient satisfaction and forestall patient deterioration.

The Hill-Rom solution is a scalable and modular platform capable of analyzing information about the patient and the care environment. By anticipating care, the solution is able to immediately deliver specific patient information directly to the care team. The result is more time at the bedside for caregivers to help reduce adverse events.

"The platform we will be featuring this week at HIMSS 16 is a direct result of the growing need for connected solutions that help caregivers anticipate and respond to individual patient needs," said Carlyn Solomon, chief operating officer of Hill-Rom. "Since we launched our first nurse communication system over 20 years ago, we have been an innovator in patient safety. We are continuing our history of innovation with this industry-leading solution that allows caregivers to protect patients by anticipating care."

Welch Allyn, a leading medical diagnostic device company recently acquired by Hill-Rom, will join Hill-Rom at the show to demonstrate how data collected from its connected devices can be incorporated into a health information technology system to help protect patients and streamline workflow.

"Welch Allyn® devices allow providers to quickly and efficiently collect and record patients' vital signs, which is important in fast-paced hospital settings," added Solomon. "By linking patient data collection applications to Welch Allyn vital signs devices, providers can help reduce the time required to collect patient data, eliminate transcription errors, and help prevent adverse events before they occur—helping improve outcomes for patients and caregivers alike."

Through its acquisition of Welch Allyn, Hill-Rom is playing a more substantial role in improving patient care globally and achieving greater levels of efficiency and reducing health care costs for its customers. Combining Hill-Rom's leading position in hospitals and operating rooms worldwide with Welch Allyn's leading position in point of care diagnostics and testing will expand Hill-Rom's ability to help health care providers focus on patient care solutions that improve clinical and economic outcomes. Trained personnel at Hill-Rom booth #2627 and Welch Allyn booth #3037 will be on hand to demonstrate the potential strength of the combined solution, and ultimately, the strength of the combined companies.
