ANN ARBOR, Mich., Feb. 26, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- Chris Birkmeyer, Chief Operating Officer of ArborMetrix, will present the session "The Importance of Risk & Reliability Adjustment in C&BI" (Education Session KCO6) at the HIMSS16 Annual Conference & Exhibition.

ArborMetrix, Inc. provides a unique, cloud-based platform for performance measurement and clinical intelligence in acute and specialty care. ArborMetrix solutions deliver rigorous data analysis and actionable business intelligence while incorporating advanced risk and reliability adjustments. With valuable insights grounded in clinical evidence, ArborMetrix clients quickly achieve quality improvements and cost savings.

The session will take place Tuesday, March 1, 2016 beginning at 1:45 p.m. P.T. in the HIMSS Clinical & Business Intelligence Pavilion at the Sands Expo Convention Center in Las Vegas, Nevada.

HIMSS attendees who attend this session will learn innovative approaches to maximizing their investments in clinical business intelligence. Chris Birkmeyer will share the importance of overlaying the appropriate statistical approaches such as risk and reliability adjustment so healthcare organizations can truly understand actual performance levels, improve quality, and reduce variations in care. Attendees for this session will receive Continuing Education Credits for CAHIMS and CPHIMS.

"Managing risk under value-based payment models requires clinical analytics that measure real performance. Simple, unadjusted rates provide little insight," said Birkmeyer. "This presentation discusses the use of risk and reliability adjustment to convert broad measures into real insights and provides examples on the importance of each."

Mr. Birkmeyer has 20 years of experience in health services research, outcomes analysis, and software delivery. Prior to joining ArborMetrix, he was Executive Vice President at SCIO Health Analytics, responsible for the software and analytics business units. Previously, he directed the informatics department at Health Dialog and managed the Data Center for the Department of Surgery at Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center. He has a Master's of Science in Epidemiology and Biostatistics from Dartmouth College.

In addition to Mr. Birkmeyer's talk, ArborMetrix will be available throughout the conference at Booth 14061 in the C&BI Pavilion.
