Madison, WI (Feb. 16, 2017) – ACR Select Basic enables providers who order Medicare Part B advanced imaging services through Ambulatory solutions to comply with the consultation requirements of the Protecting Access to Medicare Act of 2014 (PAMA).
PAMA requires that providers consult Appropriate Use Criteria (AUC) through a qualified Clinical Decision Support Mechanism (qCDSM) for every advanced imaging order. The 2017 Medicare Physician Fee Schedule (MPFS) final rule confirmed the January 1st, 2018 deadline to begin reporting on Appropriate Use Criteria interactions to receive payment for Medicare Advanced Imaging.
ACR Select Basic enables ambulatory EHR vendors, including Allscripts and NextGen Healthcare, to deliver integrated access to imaging decision support for compliance with PAMA. This integration will allow Allscripts and NextGen Healthcare clients to access a comprehensive set of Appropriate Use Criteria for advanced imaging, directly at the point of order.
“Widespread and easy access to a Clinical Decision Support Mechanism is a key success factor for implementation of this legislation,” said Michael Mardini, CEO, NDSC. “The effort extended by our EHR partners to integrate our tool demonstrates their commitment to providing value to their clients, ensuring that caregivers who order advanced imaging services in the ambulatory setting can comply with the legislation and access evidence based guidance to select the right test at the right time, without disruption to their routine workflow.”
ACR Select Basic delivers comprehensive AUC from multiple qualified provider led entities including the American College of Radiology, American College of Cardiology, and the National Comprehensive Cancer Network and others. Comprehensive AUC coverage ensures applicable decision support criteria is available for consultation on all advanced imaging orders.
“With the completion of acute care EHR integration, we are now expanding our ambulatory EHR integrations” said Mardini.
