VitalConnect Unveils Vista Solution 2.0 to Improve Real-time Patient Monitoring for Earlier Intervention
New analytics will improve the detection and response to patients in hospitals and at home

SAN JOSE, Calif., Feb. 12, 2019 /PRNewswire/ -- VitalConnect, Inc., a leader in wearable biosensor technology for wireless monitoring, is introducing today at HIMSS19 Vista Solution 2.01, ushering in the next generation of healthcare where specific health outcomes can be detected through National Early Warning Scores (NEWS). Vista Solution 2.0 will include the addition of weight scale, blood pressure and pulse oximetry via 3rd party devices, and core temperature1 to the existing eight vital sign measurements monitored by the VitalPatch bionsensor (single-lead EKG, heart rate, heart rate variability, respiratory rate, skin temperature, body posture, fall detection, and activity [steps]). The VitalPatch is the smallest and lightest Class II medical device cleared for use in both hospital and post-discharge home settings.

Vista Solution 2.0 will bring intelligent risk reduction for patients, regardless of the intensity of care, into the foreground. With the integrated NEWS standard, Vista Solution 2.0 will advance a physician's access to information about a patient's condition around the clock with clinically proven predictive analytics built in. NEWS is an internationally recognized standard used for initial assessments of acute illness and for continuous monitoring of a patient's well-being throughout treatment.

NEWS gives not only more data but contextual information to help guide clinical decisions. By regularly recording NEWS, the trends in clinical responses can be tracked to provide early warning of potential clinical deterioration and provide an actionable trigger for escalation of clinical care. NEWS implementation can be tailored for different disease states, helping to further individualize the monitoring and clinical decision making around each patient. Color-coded notifications provide both visual and numeric (0 to 20 scale) trigger levels to determine the urgency of clinical response.

VitalConnect worked with various customers such as Mercy Health system, throughout the development of 2.0 to help ensure clinicians will be provided with actionable insight from Vista Solution 2.0. The solution will be implemented at customer sites later this month.

"Mercy Virtual is committed to transforming health care by creating new care models supported by telehealth teams and technology," said Mark Saxon, Vice President of Clinical Operations for Mercy Virtual. "Vista Solution 2.0 will support us in this mission by providing our clinicians with unprecedented access to information for informed decision making on patient care, while also giving patients peace of mind that their condition is being monitored as closely as possible."

With Vista Solution 2.0, patient comfort and care are a central focus. The VitalPatch is light, discrete and wireless, giving patients the freedom to move about, which can benefit their recovery. Additionally, the VitalPatch is water resistant and disposable. The Vista Solution 2.0 has a 5-day configuration that accommodates the average hospital stay.

"We're excited about the increased level of care Vista Solution 2.0 will provide patients and providers," said Dr. Nersi Nazari, CEO and founder, VitalConnect. "Implementation of new vital signs and the Early Warning Score system provides enhanced monitoring of patients, enabling earlier clinician intervention and better-informed care."
