The HIMSS Annual Conference and Exhibition is a showcase for the newest technology trends and solutions in healthcare IT. Bringing together more than 40,000 healthcare IT professionals, clinicians, executives and vendors from around the world, HIMSS is the largest health IT event in the industry. Sharp will showcase integrated technology that helps ensure healthcare providers can maintain HIPPA compliance.

Sharp and RF IDeas provide a total solution that enables users to authenticate at any Sharp multifunction printer (MFP) by swiping their ID badges, which provides access to the print/scan/copy capability, the network resources and authorized access to shared folders.

"This is the fifth year we've participated at HIMSS with RF IDeas, our long-standing Sharp Partner Program Member," said Vince Jannelli, Associate Vice President of Software Product Management, Sharp Imaging and Information Company of America. "This is the first year we're showing MFPsecure for Sharp with Levi, Ray & Shoup (LRS), and we're excited to demonstrate the synergy between Sharp MFPs, RF IDeas readers and LRS Output Management. As always, we're looking forward to meeting healthcare professionals face-to-face to discuss how Sharp and our growing community of partner program members can help meet their needs."

Through membership in the Sharp Partner Program, LRS developed MFPsecure for Sharp, a panel integration for Sharp OSA®-enabled MFPs that allows customers to pull print documents at the MFP. By helping to ensure that documents are not printed and forgotten at the device, Sharp and LRS technologies prevent the opportunity for a breach in compliance. LRS will also be on hand in the RF IDeas booth. Stop by to see how we collectively provide a highly-secure solution for healthcare providers, helping them to achieve and maintain HIPAA compliance.

Sharp will also highlight its certifications and compatibility with leading healthcare Electronic Health Record (EHR) providers, such as Cerner Millennium and McKesson STAR 2000. Certification helps to guarantee the interoperability of Sharp printers and MFPs with leading EHR systems.

The Sharp MX-3070V Color Workgroup MFP will be on display during HIMSS. It provides powerful functionality to handle the daily demands within doctor's offices, hospitals, health agencies and more. With the standard End-of-Lease feature that can be turned on at any time by the user, confidential patient data is erased from the MFP and cannot be accessed by those with malicious intent. Meeting evolving security standards, such as Common Criteria (CC), are important to ensure healthcare organizations confidentially handle the most sensitive data on Sharp devices. Recently Sharp became the first MFP manufacturer to achieve CC certification against the latest Protection Profile for Hardcopy Devices v1.0 (HCD-PP v1.0).

Sharp's award-winning MFPs provide one of the most comprehensive network and data security suites.  This security is further enhanced when paired with print release software that helps safeguard printed confidential healthcare information, and tracks and manages print and scan jobs, such as Sharp's Kayleigh job accounting software. Kayleigh helps healthcare organizations manage print security through print release and activity monitoring. In addition, Kayleigh helps track and monitor all input and output activities to prevent unauthorized access and usage on Sharp MFPs.
