Sasa Software Blocks Ransomware Attacks on Assuta Hospital
Numerous waves of malicious attacks on hospital have been successfully blocked by Sasa Software's cyber security solutions for the healthcare industry, which will be presented at HIMSS 2017.

EAST HANOVER, New Jersey, Jan. 24, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- Assuta Medical Centers, Israel's largest private medical services provider, which has successfully been using advanced cyber security solutions developed by leading cyber security vendor Sasa Software to protect patient data from cyber threats, has blocked numerous crypto ransomware attacks.

In June 2016, Assuta Medical Centers installed Sasa Software's Gate Scanner suite of products, which disarms incoming files, imaging results and emails, protecting against unknown and undetectable threats.

Assuta Medical Centers installed the following Gate Scanner solutions:

"In recent months, we have been the target of several ransomware attacks, including the notorious 'Locky' strain," said Assuta Medical Center's Chief Information Security Officer (CISO) Tamir Ronen. "Fortunately, Gate Scanner prevented these attacks, protecting us from being exposed to system downtime and data breaches. With Sasa Software's solutions we feel much more secured even from unknown and undetectable malicious attacks."

Sasa Software will present its innovative solutions for the healthcare industry at the Cyber Security Command Center of the 2017 HIMSS Conference in Orlando, Florida, February 19-23, at booth #376-25.

"Assuta Medical Center's positive experience illustrates the fact that hospitals and other healthcare organizations can protect themselves against sophisticated and highly targeted attacks and prevent the loss of sensitive medical information," said Yakov Yeroslav, Sasa Software's founder and CEO.

An extensive report by the Institute for Critical Infrastructure Technology (ICIT) indicates that healthcare is the most targeted yet underprepared genre within the nation's critical infrastructures - 75 percent of organizations experience IT security incidents, with healthcare as a whole being four times more likely to be hit than any other industry.

"By installing our solutions, these institutions can benefit from the highest level of security available," Yeroslav added.

Following a comprehensive evaluation process of other technologies, Assuta selected Sasa Software due to the high level of security it offers as well as usability, ability to scale and integrate with other security solutions used by the hospital.

"Attackers are looking for the easiest way in, using trusted content channels (email, web, detachable media) to gain access to networks, targeting organizations with uniquely created attacks. We have successfully protected Assuta and other customers from these threats," Yeroslav concluded.
